MMA Legends Cast in World War II Film D-DAY

DDAY cover

Jeri Jacquin

Coming to theatres and Video-On-Demand as well as across digital platforms is director Nick Lyon and Cinedigm is the story of a brave group of men among thousands of brave men during wartime and D-DAY.

Allied soldiers are storming the beaches of Normandy during World War II and Lt. General Omar Bradley (Chuck Liddell) is about to tell Lt. Col. James Rudder (Weston Cage Coppola), Sgt. Lommell (Jesse Kove) and Maj. Cleveland Lytle (Randy Couture) that they will be going behind enemy lines.

What is waiting for them is a continual firefight from one place to the next as they tried to locate the weapons hidden by German soldiers. Along with soldiers Sgt. Kuhn (David Tom), Carbone (Isaac Cruz), Hodges (Kellan Rhude) and Sgt. White (Geoff Meed), they take one position after another but – no guns.

dday 1

Capturing German soldiers they discover that the weapons are on the move and the 2nd Battalion is right behind them. On their way each soldier gets to know the other and their stories of home. The Germans don’t let them get to close as they continue to open fire to keep their weapons out of the hands of these brave American soldiers. Fighting on land and sea, the 2nd Battalion hold out until help can arrive.

Each step forward is one step closer to going home!

Liddell as Bradley is a man on a mission and he knows that lives will be lost. I have to say that he looks like a general with his hard chiseled features so it works to his advantage here. Coppola as Rudder takes over the Battalion when it becomes clear that Lytle doesn’t see the war eye to eye with Bradley. Coppola is a man pushing forward with each position captured and does it the best way he knows how – keeping them men focused.

Kove as Lommell is one of the men who is trying to work through what he is seeing. It is difficult for all the men and its clear there is a weight they will take home with them, but Rudder once again makes it clear to stay hard and get the job done.  Meed not only stars in the film but he is the writer which gives him a little insight to his character and how to play the role.

DDay 2

Other cast include Martin Kove as Nikolai, Tyler Bryan as First Lt. Powers, Sam Gipson as Wiley, Matthew Lewis as Robbins, Mike C. Manning as Dennis, Philip Nathanael as Treadwell Recruit, Christian Oliver as Corporal Jurgen, Brandon Root as Pickens, Sherrod Taylor as Sgt. Francis and Ben van Diepen as Horst.

CINEDIGM has strategic relationships with over 60,000 physical retail storefronts and digital platforms with Wal-Mark, Target, iTunes, Netflix, and Amazon as well as national cable and satellite Video On Demand with an impressive distribution footprint that reaches ninety-three percent of all connected devices in the United States. DDay 3

D-DAY is a corner in a full pages of a book that tell the story of bravery on D-Day. The story embraces this small band of men from their landing until finding the weapons they were sent out to locate. It is fight after fight with very little leading the way except the men knowing they had a job to do. There are major losses and yet these men kept going forward with strength and leadership.

That’s not to say there aren’t moments where the men feel as if they have just had about enough but that’s to be expected when their fellow soldiers and friends fall. They must find that place that gets them past their anger and remember that there are those alive who still need them if they are to succeed.

In the end – it is the day that changed the world!

CANAL STREET is Thought Provoking on DVD

canal street dvd cover

Jeri Jacquin

Coming to DVD from director Rhyan LaMarr and Cinedigm comes the story of two young men and when the media get it wrong with CANAL STREET.

Kholi (Bryshere Y. Gray) is a young man is dealing with the emotional separation with his mother. Father Jackie Styles (Mykelti Williamson) is a lawyer who has started with a new firm while Kholi starts in a new school in Winnetka. Almost immediately he meets Zoey (Juani Feliz), a young lady with a glowing smile. At the same time he meets Brian Sudermill (Kevin Quinn) but their meeting isn’t such a good one.

The challenge of a one on one in basketball is given to Kholi and as they move closer to the bet being over, Brian offers up a bit of roughness. Zoey lets Kholi know that he should keep it together and don’t give in to what Brian and his group are dishing out. To ease tensions, Zoey invites him to a party and sees it as a way for everyone to get to know the new student.
canal 2

During music class, Kholi and Brian discover they share the same interests with an acknowledged fist pound. At the party, Kholi brings two friends and the night actually goes quite well, even to the point of Kholi giving Brian a ride home. On the drive with his friends in the back seat, the two young men discover even more about one another.

Dropping off Brian, Kholi is feeling good until he turns the car around down the street and comes up on Brians body in the middle of the street. Jumping out, his two friends tell him he must get back in because they will be blamed. Kholi refuses to leave and screams out for help. That’s when Brian’s father Bill (William R Moses) runs out of the house to find the two boys in the street.

Kholi is arrested and it sends shockwaves through the town as the public begins to take sides and the media is taking over. There are people using the situation for their own gain and those who believe there is more to the story – like the very disturbing truth.

Gray as Kholi is a young man who has dealt with a lot of hard knocks. Keeping his mother close in his mind, it is probably the only thing helping him while awaiting trial. It seems that everyone has an agenda except what is going to happen to Kholi. Gray looks like an angry young man but then again I think I’d have the same face if enough people tried to change the course of my life.
canal 1

Quinn as Brian is the school jock who is in a clique wanting to teach the new guy who is who. Of course when he realizes that he’s misjudging Kholi and as a new friendship actually begins to happen. It is what happens on the street in front of his house that he can’t do anything about.

Williamson as Jackie is a father who happens to be a lawyer but it doesn’t stop him from feeling every bit a father. When he realizes that all eyes are on him, he also knows they are judging a son he believes is innocent. Feliz as Zoey knows both boys and doesn’t appreciate being put on the stand to pit one against the other. Moses as Bill is a man grieving for the loss of his son. In his anger he believes what is easy to believe and cannot come to terms with his grief.

Other cast include Lance Reddick as Jerry Shaw, Michael Beach as Ronald Morgan, Jamie Hector as Pastor Sam Billings, Jon Seda as Det. Mike Watts, Will Yun Lee as Officer Hank Chu, Harry Lennix as DJ Terrance Palmer, Nora Dunn as Marge Sudermill, LaRoyce Hawkins as Amari Crawford, Ashley Black as Ashley, Rachel Cerda as Det. Regan, Katie Chang as Elizabeth Chu, and Mekhi Phifer as Prosecutor A.J. Canton. There are also cameos by Don Benjamin, Casper Smart, Da Brat, Charlamagne Tha God, Emily Walker, DeStorm Power, HeadKrack, and Angela Lee.

I am purposely being vague about this review because I want the viewer to take it in for themselves. With the tide of shootings in our country and the stories out in the media before the facts are in, CANAL STREET is a perfect example of it all. Finding myself with a case of the head shakes, it is everyone talking about something and making judgements before the facts are in.

The worst part of it is that it is the media in all forms that consistently do exactly that. Instead of focusing on investigating the true facts it is easy to cast dispersions here and there. CANAL STREET forces everyone to take a look at themselves if they are part of the problem or part of the solution.
canal 3

I would use this film in high school classrooms if I could because although it is about two young men, it is also about how those two young men treat each other and how all of that can be a catalyst for pain and suffering where there doesn’t need to be.

In the end – guilty until proven innocent!

MISSION OF HONOR Shares So Much More

Mission of

Jeri Jacquin

On Bluray from director David Blair and Cinedigm comes the story of the most unlikely pilots in war against Germany with MISSION OF HONOR.

Jan Zumbach (Iwan Rheon) along with John Kentowski (Milo Gibson), Witold Urbanowicz (Marcin Dorocinski) and more are brought together to form the Hurricane Squadron 303. These Polish pilots are far from home as Germany has invaded their homeland of Poland.

Becoming pilots for Great Britain, they train and fight but their counterparts aren’t thrilled to have them as part of the team. What surprises their commander the most is that the Polish pilots are dedicated and good. There isn’t much time for training as the war in the sky becomes more intense.

Mission 1

The men stick together and find their place in the squadron by proving they are dedicated and loyal to the cause of stopping Germany from killing any more of their countrymen. Jan is also falling for the beautiful Phyllis (Stefanie Martini) and they try to find togetherness during a time of great sorrow.

This is also a time when friendships are tested, planes are becoming scarce and keeping them together is nothing short of a wing and a prayer.

Yet, their story is so much more than flying!

Rheon as Zumbach has very good reason for wanting to help fight in the battle of Great Britain. Having seen what has happened to his family in Poland and the brutal and murderous actions of the Nazi’s, he takes the moral stand to do his part. Trying to find his place in another group of men who don’t seem to want him their, it is Zumbach’s calmness and skill at the stick that wins over his counterparts.

mission 2

Gibson as Kentowski has a problem with the group. Instead of embracing the help, he seems to find a problem with them all. With most characters that don’t understand the plight they are facing, Kentowski learns that the only way to save his country is by understanding what the men of the 303 have gone through in their own country to stop it from happening in his.

Martini as Lambert is a young woman who is part of the military that keeps the flow of information to the pilots. In a chance meeting during off duty hours at the local watering hole, she meets Rheon but their relationship doesn’t start out well. Martini gives her character strength, intelligence and shows the important role women served in the military.

Other cast include: Krystoff Hadek as Josef Frantisek, Manuel Klein as Trost, Raphael Desprez as Favier, Rosie Gray as Georgina, Emily Watt as Kate, Robert Portal as Keith Park, Graham Padden as Rawlings, Teresa Mahoney as McCormac and Marc Hughes as Ellis.

Cinedigm is a leading distributor of amazing content in storefronts, digital platforms, Internet and Demand platforms for cable television. Mission 4

MISSION OF HONOR is just that, a unique look at those who had experienced the horrors of war but were defiant. They wanted to fight back and taking to the skies was the only way they could contribute. Watching them go through the difficulties of language and training will make anyone appreciate these brave Polish pilots.

It is crucial to understand what brought so man different countries together to fight against a common foe. Learning from one another was difficult at first but once they took the time to understand each other, the flow for victory was inevitable.

mission 3

When the war finally came to an end, the 303 was the highest scoring fighter squadron of the Battle of Britain. Those 145 Polish pilots show down 203 planes and was 20% of the RAF’s war power. How were they rewarded? By returning home only to face the horrors that they tried to stop from the air.

In the end – in foreign skies they fought for their country!

SGT. WILL GARDNER is a Story of Pain and Redemption

sgt cover

Jeri Jacquin

Coming to DVD from writer/director Max Martini and Cinedigm comes the story of a man who has seen war and forgot his life in SGT. WILL GARDNER.

Will ‘Ghost’ Gardner (Max Martini) is a man struggling with life after his time in the military. After an explosion kills his close friend Samuel ‘Top’ Gallegos (Omari Hardwick) and causes brain injury, he leaves his life behind to wander the streets.

As the years pass, Ghost realizes he must get back into life and makes his way to see his young son. Along the way he meets Mary Anne (Lily Rabe) who accidentally mistakes him for a famous actor. The two get to know one another and discover they are both lost in the big world.

sgt 1

After reconnecting with his young son Will Jr. (Leo Martini), he sees his ex-wife Kimmy (Elisabeth Rohm) and new husband Buddy (Dermot Mulroney). She explains what happened with her life when Ghost went off to war and it is what they both needed to move forward.

Trying to find his way clear, Ghost takes one step forward and four steps back trying to find his way in a world that doesn’t see him nor do they see his injury.  Relationships are held together by a thread, friendships are so difficult to maintain and sanity walks on the edge of what he wants his world to be.

This is his story but it is also the story of so many.

Martini as Ghost is a man who can not seem to find his way clear of the war. He wants so much to have the life he once knew but the trauma gets in the way. The emotional battle inside takes a piece of him little by little to the point where he can not see his way clearly. For every two steps forward he slides a little back but yet there is something inside him that refuses to stay down. That is his saving grace!

Hardwick as Top has become the conscience that Ghost doesn’t want to deal with. Always with him, Top is a constant reminder of where they have been together. Hardwick gives a performance of a friend that offers strength and courage and we should all be so blessed to have a friend that makes that kind of impact in our lives.

sgt 3

Rabe as Mary Anne is a woman who is also looking for something that isn’t exactly what she expects. Ghost does take advantage of that for a bit but Rabe, as we all know from American Horror Story, can give as good as she takes.

A shout out to Bordonada as Charlie Burroughs as a vet who seems to be a target for every person with big-man-syndrome. Even when he goes against Ghost, he discovers that there is someone else out there who understands the fear and pain of war. Bordonada is a bit of the missing piece for Ghost that can create a new path for them both.

Sinise as Larry makes an appearance and it must be said that anytime he shows up in a film it is an experience but every time he shows up in a film for vets it makes me love him even more. Dedicated to supporting veterans, Sinise has become a recognizable face for the cause of our active, wounded and retired service members.

Other cast include: JoBeth Williams as Sherry, Luis Bordonada as Charlie Burroughs, Holt McCallany as Officer Callahan, Justin Tucker as Farnsworth, Matthew Velez as Morley, Georgina Lighting as Emily Saunders, Jay DeMarcus as Top Gunner and Gary Sinise as Larry.

Cinedigm is a leading distributor of amazing content in storefronts, digital platforms, Internet and Demand platforms for cable television. With an extensive library of over 52,000 films and television shows, Docurama films, next-gen Indies and Independent films. At its inception, Cinedigm has played a pioneering role in transitioning movie theatres from traditional film prints to digital distribution to advance worldwide cinema modernization. For more on what Cinedigm has to offer please visit http://www.cinedigm.com.

Martini has pledged that 30% of SGT. WILL GARDNER’s film proceeds will go to charities that help soldiers with homelessness, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Traumatic Brain Injury such as the character Ghost suffers from.

sgt 2

SGT. WILL GARDNER is an amazing film in that it is simple, straight forward and only a glimpse inside the lives of wounded service members. Tough as nails on one hand and spiritually tired on the other, this film shows that Ghost wants what everyone else wants – a simple life, love of family and to be of help to others.

The reality for all who serve is, “Although it is impossible to gauge accurately, the findings estimate approximately 50,000 veterans are still homeless on any given night in the United States of America. A recent DoD report states that 383,947 veterans have been diagnosed with war related Traumatic Brain Injuries (TBI) since the year 2000. In 2015, a VA Inspector General’s report revealed that 307,000 veterans died while awaiting pending healthcare claims. The VA National Suicide Data Report claims that the average number of Veterans who die by suicide each day remains unchanged at 20” – leave no man behind!

It is stirring to see, rough to feel and real enough to take in what is happening to our veterans after serving our country.

In the end – sometimes the battle follows you home!

RIVER RUNS RED Seeks Revenge on Bluray

river runs red cover

Jeri Jacquin

On 4K UHD, Bluray and DVD from Cinedigm Entertainment Group and writer/director Wes Miller comes a story of justice and revenge with RIVER RUNS RED.

Charles Coleman (Taye Diggs) is a man who has worked hard for a career in law and becoming a judge. Married to medic Eve (Jennifer Tao) and raising son CJ (Joseph Belk), he is seeing all of his life dreams come true.

When Coleman and CJ have a friendly bet, it is CJ who drives away in his fathers expensive car! On his way to school, he is pulled over by Officer Rory (Gianni Capaldi) and Officer Von (Luke Hemsworth) and while reaching for his wallet the officers open fire.

river 1

Coleman and Eve are devastated and can not understand how such a thing can happen. They are angry and even more so when they are told that CJ had a gun leading to the officers shooting him. They know this isn’t true but the pain of their loss has them trying to cope the best they know how. Coleman enlists the help of Detective Horace (John Cusack) to find out more about the officers who shot his son.

Javier (George Lopez) is a mechanic who with his wife Marilyn (Briana Evigan) have spent the last two years avoiding the thoughts of their sons death. Coleman goes to see him when he realizes that there is a connection between them. Javier wants nothing to do with speaking about the death of his son; that is until Coleman shows him something that changes his mind.

Motivated by anger, rage and sadness, the two fathers make a plan to take matters into their own hands.

river 2a

Diggs as Coleman is a husband and father who has worked hard to become a judge and to provide for his family. Enjoying his life it all changes in the flash of gunfire. Diggs portrays a father mired down in the hurt and rage at the unfairness by the same system that he has spent years being a part of. Turning to all those that should be helping him, he finds that they don’t seem to take the situation seriously. This is a tough role but Diggs gives it all the twists and turns up to the shocking ending.

Lopez as Javier is another father who can’t seem to get past the death of his son. Pushing down his feelings he thinks he finally has his life bearable. That is until he gets a visit from Coleman with his suspicions about the officers who killed CJ and shows father Javier a reason to join him in a plan to get justice for both of their sons. Lopez gets a chance to show serious acting chops.

Hemsworth as Von knows almost immediately that what has happened with the judges’ son isn’t something that is going to go away. Trying to move forward, he immerses into his own home life and that of his young son. Capaldi as Rory is a hot headed cop who seemed to be looking for any reason that day to shoot someone. Keeping an eye on his partner Von and believing they are in the clear is his first mistake. Both of these actors played off of each other’s character in a chilling way.

river 3

Tao as Eve lashes out at her husband when ever she thinks about the death of their son. She also wants justice and feels that Coleman isn’t doing enough to make that happen. Evigan as Marilyn watches her husband become withdrawn but when Coleman shows up she fears what he will do.

Cusack as Horace is a detective that realizes what Coleman is up against. Wanting to help his friend discover what the two officers are hiding, he begins to see a change in the judge and fears for him.

Other cast include: RJ Mitte as Officer Thomas, Steve Berrebi as Brass One, Jaqueline Fleming as Professor Lawless, Tshombi Basemore as Diego, Michael Clofine as Officer Mike, John D. Hickman as Officer Tom and Spencer Kingsley as Carter.

Cinedigm is a leading distributor of amazing content in storefronts, digital platforms, Internet and Demand platforms for cable television. With an extensive library of over 52,000 films and television shows, Docudrama films, next-gen Indies and Independent films. At its inception, Cinedigm has played a pioneering role in transitioning movie theatres from traditional film prints to digital distribution to advance worldwide cinema modernization. For more on what Cinedigm has to offer please visit http://www.cinedigm.com.

River 2

RIVER RUNS RED is a film that speaks about the times we live in and the way the justice system handles cases of officer involved shootings. Even when the young man killed has a father who is a judge, there seems to be a thin veil that no one wants to push through.

Writer/director Wes Miller jumps in without any hesitation in pointing out the inequalities both Coleman and Javier face. There isn’t any mincing of words or emotions bringing it all straight out into the open. The ending is staggering, shocking and emotional showing that everything doesn’t wrap up as neatly.

The cast led by Diggs and Lopez brings a strong intensity to the story and once the film begins, there aren’t to many moments to catch your breath.

In the end – vengeance is the only justice!

THE STEAM ENGINES OF OZ Revisited After a Century

steam engines of oz box

Jeri Jacquin

Coming to Bluray and DVD from Arcana Studios, Cinedigm and direction Sean Patrick O’Reilly is a story of old friends meeting new heroes in the animated THE STEAM ENGINES OF OZ.

It has been a century since Dorothy, Scarecrow, Cowardly Lion and Tin Man (Mathew Anderson) brought us all to Oz. Now, the Emerald City has been turned into metal mayhem and is ruled by a different Tin Man.

Victoria Wright (Ashleigh Ball) is a young engineer who has the gift to fix things below the city as needed but dreams of one day seeing the city. When a pack of flying monkeys swoops her up, she is introduced to the Queen of the North Locasta (Julianna Hough) in the Emerald Forest.

steam 1

She learns that the Tin Man wants to destroy the forest with industry and needs to stop it. Along with Lion Magnus (Ron Perlman), Scarecrow (Geoff Gustafson), Oscar ‘Oz’ Diggs (William Shatner) and a band of munchkins, all of this can be turned around by finding the Tin Man’s missing heart.

When they band together, Victoria and her friends don’t just fight for the Emerald City but one another with friendship, loyalty and heart!

Ball as Victoria is a bright spot and is drawn in by everyone she meets, even if they don’t want to be. Hough as Locasta knows that Victoria is the one to make things right again and gives encouragement to the young girl.

Perlman as Magnus is perfect as he has the right vocal disposition for the part. Of course it is practically impossible not to recognize the voice of William Shatner who plays the great Oz himself.

Arcana Studios owns one of the largest libraries of graphic novels and comics that include thousands of characters. Their high quality brand of entertainment is filled with stories that transcend gender, age, cultural and geographic boundaries. THE STEAM ENGINES OF OZ is based on a graphic novel of the same name. To learn more about Arcana Studios please visit www.arcana.com.

THE STEAM ENGINES OF OZ is definitely something different than what most of us have known about the Wizard of Oz. That’s actually what makes this story so unique because it is what has happened since our trip down the yellow brick road.

The Tin Man has lost the one thing that made him feel so much and becoming metal minded he is ruining what we all knew about the Emerald City. Young Victoria is the new face of saving Oz and rising up out of the basement, as it were; she sees what Oz has become.

steam 3

It isn’t until she goes outside the city does Victoria realize how beautiful the Emerald City could be again. Finding those who see what is happening is challenging but finding the right those who believe in the Emerald City and Victoria is paramount.

The vibrant colors and animation of THE STEAM ENGINES OF OZ is entertaining and the story challenges us all to think further on down the road. We’d all love for the Emerald City to stay the same but a century is a long time for that to happen. The stun is that the Tin Man would lose the one thing he fought so hard to get!

Victoria is a character that has such a giving heart and although it takes a little convincing, others believe she is the one to lead them. I really enjoyed the quirkiness of the characters as did my granddaughter.

In the end – it is about friendship, determination and love!

Coming to DVD from writer/director Adam Sigal and Cinedigm is the story of life, the written word and the clash between the two with WHEN THE STARLIGHT ENDS.

Jacob (Sam Heughan) is stuck at a job he can’t stand and girlfriend Cassandra (Arabella Oz) wants him to be happy. He truly wants to write and when Cassandra says he should follow his dream, their lives begin to change. Sitting in front of a computer screen daily, he pumps out his thoughts trying to put it all together in a book worth publishing.

When it begins to pay off, he knows that Cassandra deserves to fruits of their labor and finding the house of their dreams is a good beginning. Jacob begins working on his next work but starts to get sidetracked and tries to get it together with a side chat with dog-neighbor Ralph (Sean Patrick Flanery). When that doesn’t help, his mind begins to wander wondering if it’s possible that there is another ‘Jacob’ living another life.

Starlight 1

Cassandra makes the painful decision to leave when she realizes that Jacob’s writing is more important than she is. Knowing he could change this fate around with one simple promise, something inside stops every urge he has. That decision puts Jacob back in front of the keyboard to try and find a happy ending to it all.

He lives for the words.

Heughan as Jacob is a man who can’t believe the love of his life allows him to finally have the time to put his thoughts into a book. When the book is successful, it releases him to freely write and take care of his life with Cassandra. Heughan is sweet in this role giving us all a look inside of the thought process of a writer but this character has moments of artistic narcissism.

Of course I’m sure it can be said that all artists carry a bit of it with them but Cassandra isn’t about to have it in her life. Heughan came to the attention of American audiences from the STARZ original series Outlander playing the role of Scottish rogue Jamie Fraser. This is a different look for accent-less Heughan and the stories within the main story come off well.

Oz as Cassandra also has the opportunity to play other characters within the stories Jacob is writing. Because his work focuses around his love for her, it is also a very cool way of showcasing Oz’s ability to go from loving girlfriend to hitchhiker. The brilliant scene toward the end of the film between Cassandra and Heughan is awkward, necessary and it felt like I was eavesdropping.

starlight 2

Flanery as Ralph is the odd duck neighbor who occasionally is Jacob’s sounding board. It’s not so much that he really cares about what Jacob is going through as much as it would be nice to have a buddy to have a few beers with. His story comes into play when the writer can’t help but wonder how his life works.

Other cast include Armando Gutierrez as Don, Hunter Gomez as Danny, Georgia Cook as Ellie, George Griffith as Jimmy, AlexAnn Hopkins as Eva, and David Arquette as Bill.

WHEN THE STARLIGHT ENDS is a look inside the mind of Jacob as a writer and he truly does have a lot to say and in such a way that I loved hearing every word. The process of how he gets there is the story of a man who goes so deep into his own world that he forgets about the one person he constantly professes is his life.

starlight 3

Writer/director Sigal presents his complex story blanketed in the simplicity of love and the choices we all make using that emotion. Sometimes it isn’t until we hurt or are hurt that what is in our hearts and minds flows out of us whether it is writing, painting, singing, etc.

The character of Jacob had the choice to keep the life he professed to love but instead took another path that was riddled with mirrors of pain, angst and ugly realities staring right back at him.

The Twists Come and All is Shattered on DVD!

shattered dvd

Jeri Jacquin

Coming to DVD from director Natasha Kermani, VMI Worldwide and Cinedigm comes secrets and lies that lead to being SHATTERED.

Kate (Molly Burnett) is a young woman who is introduced to Mayor Forest Burnett (Ray Wise). He instantly thinks she would be a good match for his son Ken (Tom Malloy) and the Mayor is right. Kate also notices that the Mayor’s wife Maureen (Arianne Zucker) doesn’t seem too happy with her life no matter how much she smiles.

Married and starting their life together, Kate and Ken make the announcement that they are going to adopt a baby boy. Finding a nice house and raising son Logan (Tate Birchmore) and adding young daughter Emma (Kayleigh Finnegan), their life seemed wonderful.

But young Logan begins to show signs of not being well, outbursts and seeing things, Kate knows they need help. Forest doesn’t believe there is anything wrong with his grandson and Ken lets his father take the lead. When Dr. Panfil (Eileen Dietz) suggests that they discover more about Logan’s birthparents, the elder Burnett isn’t happy.

After an accident, Kate takes it upon herself to go to Maureen to ask for help. Believing there is more here than Forest or Ken are saying, it is time for her to find out for herself what everyone seems to know but her.

What Kate finds is not only disturbing and changes her life completely but it leaves her shattered!

Burnett as Kate tries to do what’s right for everyone but herself. Listening to the elder Burnett as the political and forceful leader of the family, she knows that it’s up to her to find the truth. Knowing that being under someone’s thumb isn’t a way to live, Burnett gives the character strength to stand up. It is nice to see Burnett again since her stint on the daytime television soap opera Days of Our Lives.

shattered 1

Wise as Mayor Burnett is a piece of work but then again I knew he could be. His performance in the iconic series TWIN PEAKS as Laura Palmer’s father, I knew he could be devious and terrifying with the calmness that is equally frightening. Wise is an amazing actor who has had a career I’ve enjoyed.

Zucker as Maureen is a woman who is in pain by the life she is living. Keeping it all together by dressing smartly, smiling and having more drinks than she should, it is clear that this character is trapped in her own making. Zucker is also a Days of Our Lives cast member who is playing opposite of Burnett once again.

Malloy as Ken is a man who is caught up in a life planned by his father. There are clearly issues of who he is and his place in the political dynasty his father is trying to create. The problem is that the deception he is responsible for goes deeper than Kate could have imagined.

Other cast include Jonathan Camp as Jax, LaRita Shelby as Pam, Shivonne Michelle as Emily, Adam Huss as Rocco, and Alfonso Freeman as Dr. Minton.

shattered 2

SHATTERED is a film that is based on true events from T.T. Johnson’s bestseller The Shattered Faberge Egg. The story has just about everything including greed, secrets, mystery, and power politics mixing it all together with the Deep South sprinkled in. Interesting considering the political landscape going on now that includes everything listed above!

The twists and turns will keep you guessing because even I didn’t think it could get any more complex until it did.

In the end – this is a ripped-from-the-headlines thriller!
