Magically appearing in theatres tomorrow from director Jon M. Chu, Summit and Lionsgate come our favorite magicians in NOW YOU SEE ME 2.

It has been some time since the disappearance of the Four Horsemen. When tech magnate Lionel Shrike (Richard Laing) brings technology that is being misused, the gang reappears to set things straight.

Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg), McKinney (Woody Harrelson) and Wilder (Dave Franco) are now joined by wonder-girl Lula (Lizzie Caplan) to expose the tech giant. Rhodes (Mark Ruffalo) is also in the arena and all too soon learns that there is something very wrong.

Walter Mabry (Daniel Radcliffe) sees what the Four Horsemen can do and involves them in a heist of the magic kind. What the group doesn’t realize is that Arthur Tressler (Michael Caine) and jailed Thaddeus Bradley (Morgan Freeman) aren’t done with any of them yet.

When twists comes to shove, no one can trust anyone and in the magic world nothing is as it seems – ever.

Eisenberg as Atlas starts to feel the pinch of leadership but only after being suckered into it. That being said, he embraces this role and the film wouldn’t be the same without him. He is so serious looking and that poker face comes in handy when trying to figure out where the plot of the film is going.

Harrelson as McKinney is still snarky and yet always looking like he is having the time of his life. The same can be said of Franco as Wilder with his snappy smarts and clever smile as he jumps from behind the curtain this time.

Ruffalo as Rhodes is in charge but in a way that is different since he doesn’t have the inside scoop he once did. Trying to help the Horsemen, he is also looking for answers about how this all began. Caplan as Lulu is quick, funny and charming but I’d expect nothing less from someone who is a Master of Sex.

Caine as Tressler has a few surprises of his own for audiences. Freeman as Bradley has a score to settle and he’s not about to stop until he’s free.

Jay Chou as Li knows the tricks of the trade and how to make them. Tsai Chin as Bu Bu is just plain as cool as she wants to be. I have always enjoyed this actress’ work so anything she does works for me immediately.

Winner alert! Radcliffe as Walter is a genius with a razor wit and an even sharper tongue that cuts and cuts deep. Of course being a lover of magic (insert Harry Potter grin here), Radcliffe brings his outgoing personality straight to the Horsemen. His lines are often hilarious and even when they probably aren’t meant to be I was laughing.

Other cast include: Sanaa Lathan as Deputy Director Natalie Austin, David Warshofsky as Agent Cowan and Henry Lloyd Hughes as Allen Scott-Frank.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give NOW YOU SEE ME 2 four tubs of popcorn out of five. I had a fun time watching this film and probably because I’m partial to magic tricks. Sure there is slight of hand here but there is also a test of mind. I mean seriously, you have to pay attention here because piece by piece the story dazzles and distracts.

Magic brings out the kid in us all and to wrap it around a good story makes it all the more fun. Director Chu says about the magic in the film, “we try to do as much real magic as possible and anytime the card is in their hands it is real. We could do it in CGI but we wanted the audience with us. We promised ourselves that we were going to use as much practical magic as possible because we believe the audience can feel that.”

This is certainly a visual treat for fans of the first film and NOW YOU SEE ME 2 certainly won’t disappoint in it’s practical magic and pretty cool effects. Hit the theatre this weekend and prepared to be dazzled as the Four Horsemen amaze.

In the end – they’ve appeared to clear their names and amaze us all!
