fargo 2

That’s right, Fargo is back and the cast is bigger and badder. From Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment comes the Golden Globe Nominated series that has captured the imagination of fans with FARGO – Year Two.

This series writer and showrunner Noah Hawley brings another season based on the megahit film FARGO that was written and directed by the Coen brothers in 1996.

It is 1979 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and into Luverne, Minnesota as State Police Officer Lou Solverson (Patrick Wilson) investigates local crime with a dash of the mob and more recently beautician Peggy (Kirsten Dunst) and husband Ed (Jesse Plemons).

fargo 3

Helping Lou separate it all is father-in-law Hank Larsson (Ted Danson) as they come into contact with town lawyer Karl Weathers (Nick Offerman), crime front man Joe Bulo (Brad Barrett) and partner Mike Milligan (Bokeem Woodbine).

What are they after? Taking the Gerhardt crime family in Fargo led by Floyd Gerhardt (Jean Smart), sons Dodd (Jeffrey Donovan), Bear (Angus Sampson) and Rye (Kieran Culkin).

As you might have guess, it isn’t all that simple. Let’s do a quick run down (pardon the pun) shall we?

fargo 4

So Otto Gerhardt has had a stroke, sons Dodd and Bear want in on the family action. Youngest Rye is all about extorting the law but also has seen a UFO. There are corpses in meat freezers and people being shot at the local waffle house. The law shows up bringing the in-law who is dealing with family cancer.

That doesn’t stop other crime families from coming to town to try and pull off a buy out. The local butcher and his beautician wife are losing their perspective on life and proper meat grinder usage. Henchmen are in the mix as plans are made and town lawyers get involved.

If that isn’t interesting enough how about townsfolk being knocked out, shot in the leg, manhunted, strangled with everyone running around wanting revenge as UFO’s seem to enjoy motel hovering.

Welcome to Fargo!

It must be said I absolutely loved season one of the FX series FARGO so waiting for the second season made me a little nuts. There is something about my own twisted sense of humor that plays well with Executive Producers Noah Hawley, Joel & Ethan Coen along with Warren Littlefield and John Cameron.

Once again FARGO – Year Two managed to bring just about everything delightfully sinister and crazy thing imaginable. What brings it up another notch is the amazing talent that joined the ranks this season. There isn’t a single actor that didn’t thrill me to see taking their stab at a role in the series.

Patrick Wilson and Ted Danson together are just stellar and that could be because I just love both of them. They play off each other so well with moments I am so happy to see again on Bluray.

Dunst and Plemons I thought was an odd paring yet again, they play off one another so dad-gum well! Offerman as Karl is just amazing in and of himself so you won’t hear nothing but me singing this actors praises from start to finish.

Garrett as Joe made me laugh – probably inappropriately at times but hey, this is Fargo we are talking about. Smart as the matriarch of the Gerhardt family takes the reigns even though Donovan as Dodd just wants both parents gone!

Other cast include: Michael Hogan as Otto Gerhardt, Zahn McClarnon as Hanzee Dent, Joey King as Greta Grimly, Colin Hanks as Gus Grimly and Bruce Campell as Ronald Regan.

FARGO is produced by MGM Television and FX Productions for the FX Network.

Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment has been an industry leader for over 75 years with its award-winning filmmaking and television programming. Bringing all of this to DVD, Bluray, Digital Copy, Digital HD and Video-On-Demand has made film lovers happy and will continue to for years to come. For more please visit www.foxconnect.com.

TUBS OF POPCORN: I give FARGO – Year Two four tubs of popcorn out of five. Another thing I loved about the second season of FARGO was that Martin Freeman returns to narrate, Allison Tolman as Molly Solverson stops by with Keith Carradine as the older Lou Solverson.

I have always been a huge fan of the film FARGO and will never pass it by when I’m channel surfing so when FX brought the series to air for season one I thought that would be it. Can I say how happy I was to be wrong? The second season of FARGO brought the intensity, humor, edginess, dark, strangely comical storyline back to fans in a big way.
